About Marcia Tritter

I have provided services to families with special needs for over 30 years, working with learning disabled, autistic, troubled, and emotionally disturbed children in a variety of settings: Massachusetts and New York public schools, human service agencies, and private child and family psychotherapy practices, among others.

My knowledge of children’s special needs spans a wide range of  disabilities, including, but not limited to

  • learning disabilities
  • ADD/ADHD
  • behavioral disorders
  • the autistic spectrum
  • non-verbal learning disabilities (NVLD)
  • assorted psychoeducational problems

I supervised and trained 15 Special Education advocates statewide for 10 years, sharing my vast knowledge of systems operations and special needs services.

Services

Initially, during a free consultation, we can discuss where your child and/or family are having difficulties. I offer ongoing support for your dilemmas to help you attain what you want and need.  I can also thoroughly explain and familiarize your family with the TEAM process.

I am available for personal consultation in the Greater Boston area, including the school systems in Newton, Brookline, Wellesley, Weston, North Andover, Andover, Concord, Dover, Needham, Cambridge, Wayland, Belmont, Sudbury, Acton, and Duxbury.

Case Review

I request the most recent records (educational, psychological, medical) and thoroughly review how experts have evaluated the situation to date. I then carefully interpret summaries and recommendations of evaluations. Based on the recent records and evaluations, I develop an agenda, a framework for discussion and negotiation with the school district at meetings. This process lets the school system know that we are prepared and expect progress and implement- ation of the agenda items presented.

Advocacy

Together, we will strategize how we plan to present our case to the school, and I will effectively present the case for more appropriate services. I also interpret the legal implications of the State and Federal Regulations. I will be present, with your family, at any meetings held on behalf of your child:

  • Individualized Education Planning (IEP’s)
  • Observation/review regarding placements
  • Planning and development of material for mediation when necessary

Testimonials

My family and I have worked with Marcia for almost 4 years and she has always been professional, well prepared, and supportive. She helped us find the right school placement for our son and guided us through the transfer and transition process. We look forward to working with Marcia as our son enters middle school.”

MP, Braintree

After countless failed attempts to get services for our special needs son, we knew when we met Marcia that proper placement and services would finally be provided. Marcia did not rest or leave one stone unturned until she found us the proper placement and advocated until he got every single last service he needed. As a result he grew tremendously since that placement and continues to do well five years later.”
